All future Velvet dates have been CANCELLED, as of immediate effect, until future notice. VELVET WOMEN'S CLUB NIGHT Provides a safe inclusive, diverse, affordable, fun, lgbt space, for our lesbian; gay; bisexual; transgender community & s friends.
All future Velvet dates have been CANCELLED, as a mark of respect, as of immediate effect, until future notice, due to a recent tragic bereavement & the loss of our invaluable & irreplaceable friend Melanie to ovarian cancer. Mel was our joint resident DJ Lucy*Fur! & a much valued member of The Velvet Team.
We have decided a period of compassionate time out for mourning is appropriate, & is a mark of respect to our beloved Melanie, her family & friends.
Due to other circumstances beyond our control & technical difficulties at Miss GayUK, our Sat 14th June date & ‘Miss GayUK’ Night has also been CANCELLED.
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience & disappointment caused. Thank you all for your support in recent times & over the years, we had a lot of fun didn’t we!

The Winner of Velvet’s ‘Miss GayScotland 2007’ is Sarah Wilson from Edinburgh, a very worthy winner!
Sarah is a University Student Studying Physical Education BEd (Hons) Degree (with teaching qualification) at Moray House School of Education.
The Miss GayScotland 2007 night was a roaring success & we were packed to the gunnels with lovely ladies.
A good deal of £ was raised for 'Pride Scotia' & 'Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres'

Since the fire at Mariners, Velvet’s former home, we have been trying out new venues @ have found The Ark!

Getting To Velvet is very easy, we are just a short stroll from Edinburgh’s Gay Sector.
Driving:
There is ample free parking outside 'Velvet' @ The Ark
Taxi:
Sharing a Taxi from ‘The Gay Village’ will cost just pennies each! So team up & fill a Taxi, or if you like walking it is only a few hundred yards from ‘The Gay Village’.
Getting home or arriving later…..
Night Buses: All Night Buses run regularly very close by, also you can change Night Buses at Waverly Steps (just a few yards from Velvet @ The Ark) on the same ticket,
Fares are simple too: £2 flat fare for all night travel on all Night Buses, or only £1 if you’ve got a Ridacard.
Taxi:
We will provide you with a list of Taxi numbers to call at the end of the night when you are leaving, & you can phone a Taxi home from 'Velvet'.
So, you can get transport home from the door of the club to your home very easily. Your convenience is our priority.
